Hiroki is the founder of Penguin Foot Pottery in Chicago, where he teaches pottery and shares his passion for ceramics with the community. He also creates small-batch wood-fired pottery in his own studio.
Because the tea bowl is such an important part of the matcha experience, I wanted to work with someone who understands both craftsmanship and Japanese tea culture.
Over the past few months, we've been working together to create a limited-edition matcha bowl inspired by Japanese tea culture and the joy of preparing and sharing matcha.
Each bowl is handmade by Hiroki and fired in an electric kiln, making every piece one of a kind. My hope is that these bowls help bring the matcha experience into your home and become part of your daily ritual.
